Apple Aluminum Wired Keyboard MB110LL/A
Apple Aluminum Wired Keyboard MB110LL/A Review

I’ve always used Windows keyboards, but when I recently bought a Mac Mini, I wanted to buy a Apple Keyboard to go along with it. This thing is fantastic. The low profile keys, and slim design help me type faster then I already do (135 wpm before this keyboard), I need see how much my typing has improved, but I do feel a difference. It really all comes down to the low profile keys, they are vastly different then the normal keyboards people are use to. Basically think of this as a laptop keyboard, but for your desktop PC.
I also use this keyboard on my Windows machine. Getting it to work was a breeze. It took me all of a minute to find a registry file that someone had created that you just run once, and the apple keyboard will work exactly like a windows keyboard. The command key turns into the Windows key, and ctrl+alt+delete work like they should, etc. The only thing I can’t figure out is how to take screen shots of the entire screen with this key.
Otherwise I am very impressed. The design is great, the keyboard looks incredible. It is also very quiet, which is a huge plus, as I am often up late at night and having a noisy keyboard bothers me to no end.

iHome Wireless Multimedia Keyboard and Laser Mouse
iHome Wireless Multimedia Keyboard and Laser Mouse Review

I picked this up to be my wireless KB/Mouse for a home theatre PC, and the KB works great (every now and then I have to hit keys over and over until it connects). The mouse is a bit more finnickey, I have to have direct line-of-sight and it chews through batteries like nobody’s business (even if the mouse is switched off). Still, I can surf the internet from my couch which is pretty fun, and this was a great value. (the distance between couch and computer is about 10 feet)

Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Pro Ergonomic Keyboard and Mouse
Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Pro Ergonomic Keyboard and Mouse Review

I have to say this is my favorite keyboard ever. It is shaped in a wave, ss it gives me comfort on my hands. I’m on the computer for about 8-10 hrs a day and my wrists use to hurt after an hour or two. Now i can go the full time and not take breaks, which cuts my computer use time down. The features on the keyboard and mouse are very useful. There are keys and buttons on the mouse and keyboard that one can program to suit their needs. Together, they have made my computer usage as efficient for my school work as possible. This mouse is rechargeable. Since i bought it, which was on 4/16/10, i have not changed or charged the batteries once. They both have on/off switched, yet i haven’t turned it off since the week after i bought it, which is shipping time. I really am happy with my purchase. My laptop screen broke and I found it more cost effective to buy a monitor and keyboard. The same features that where on my laptop (dell studio 17) are on the keyboard and mouse, as the media buttons and the calculator button. For the media buttons, you can choose what program. I have both my iTunes and windows media center programed on the keyboard so the programs are just a click away. There is also a power button, which you can customize as well to do any of the power options, that i use to shut down my computer. It was originally a sleep button. The keyboard also has the windows vista aero feature. It works with the xp version as well. You can zoom in and out of web pages with the zoom buttons on the keyboard as well. I love that there is a numerical pad because a lot of keyboards don’t have them. The mouse probably my favorite part of the set. It feels cool in my hand. However, lefties might have a problem working it, but seen as though i am ambidextrous, i use my left hand for the mouse as well. Its kind of awkward, so unless you can find a better mouse, then go with it. The mouse’s buttons can be programmed as well. It has a scrolling knob in the middle like many mice, but you can program it to do whatever it want. It has two buttons that can be programmed to do whatever, but its preprogrammed as another scrolling. I made it the zoom on my mouse. It also has the aero feature and the xp alternative that you press with your thumb. I don’t really use it because I’m just not a big fan of the aero feature. but it is there. It also has to buttons that you can press to make a web page go backwards and forwards. You can also program that to do whatever you like. I have really enjoyed my experience with these two products, and I know for a fact that I will probably keep this all through university. It has helped a lot, and I definitely recommend this product for anyone looking for a new keyboard and mouse.

DSI 2.4GHz Wireless Keyboard with Optical trackball, Black, FK-760
DSI 2.4GHz Wireless Keyboard with Optical trackball, Black, FK-760 Review

I purchased the DSi Wireless Keyboard to be used with my LCD TV that I have hooked up to a desktop computer. I really only use this to surf the web and watch TV and Movies. I could not give this product 5 stars because it’s not perfect. I find two things, sometimes, frustrating.
First, the device goes to “sleep” after several minutes and needs to be “awakened” to operate. This is actually a good idea because it saves battery life. However, you cannot awaken the device by simply rolling the ball; you have to actually push a button. If your cursor’s last location was over an active button on your window or desktop, then pressing a button on the keyboard to wake it up can actually activate the button on your window and desktop and navigate you away from where you want to be.
Second, it seems that if the left side of the device is either behind a body part (such as a crossed leg while sitting) or if your hand is completely covering the left grip, it significantly loses its signal strength, hindering the performance. This is really noticeable when typing. That being said, I am a writing and have found this product not very reliable for typing. It consistently misses typed letters. Depending on how I’m holding the keyboard or whether it’s in my lap or on a TV tray, significantly affects the typing capability. The best results come from using this keyboard on a TV tray and typing as if you were sitting at a desk. I purchased this model because of the extended range. I will say I had previously owned a Logic Tech wireless mouse and keyboard, which would only work within 3ft of the computer. This product works significantly better than those non-2.4GHz ones. Although my keyboard is only 8 feet from the receiver and obstruction free with a clear line of sight, my best typing performance is 1 out of two dozen letters missed; worst typing performance is every couple of letters are missed with multiple strikes to the key to get the letter to appear.
For web searches, IM, and looking at videos or pictures, this keyboard is awesome. If you’re looking to write your next novel or update the family with a long email, this will not be your best choice. I have also found that the response is too slow for fast paced video games like first-person shooters.
All that being said I love my wireless keyboard as a user interface (remote control) for my internet/entertainment system, however I do not fully appreciate this item as a full fledge computer keyboard.
I would buy this product again without hesitation.

1500 Wireless Rechargeable Keyboard & Mouse Combo, USB/PS/2, Black Review

I wanted a mouse that you could put in a cradle and recharge the batteries. I play games on line and there is nothing worse then having your mouse quit working in the middle. So, every other night I can charge the battery and it has never failed. I also like the feel of the mouse. The keyboard still has cheap feeling to compared to be G15 kyeboard but it also works just fine and fits the need. I would buy this product again.

Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Set
Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Set Review

I was a little reluctant to try this keyboard – not because of the brand, but because of the wave.
Frankly, I didn’t see how that could work. I was tired of typing on my iMac keyboard, and wanted something ergonomically-friendly, but wasn’t certain this was the solution. Logitech is a terrific brand – and there were few choices for a Mac user like myself. I decided to try it mainly because of the brand and a mail-in rebate – which, of course, I forgot to send in on time.
Everyone in the household LOVES this keyboard – including myself. The fit is amazing. Typing is so comfortable now, and it definitely cuts down on wrist problems. The mouse is a little large – which was an immediate concern – but after working with it, I really like it. It took a bit to get used to the different mouse functions. The commend center software is a little fickle with me, but overall it works great.
The keyboard functions are just like my Mac keyboard and very easy to use. I really like the zoom function on the left.
The “cover” for the keyboard isn’t a cloth one, as I was expecting, but the heavy plastic used in shipping. It actually work great to protect the keyboard and isn’t so large that I cannot slide the keyboard tray beneath the desk at night.
One thing you should do before buying: Measure your keyboard tray. This is a large keyboard, mainly because the wrist guard is built in. Be sure your tray is long and wide enough to fit it. My tray measures 29 inches long and a foot wide. It holds both the keyboard and a mouse on a gel wrist guard.
I use OSX Leopard and have had no issues.

Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Set Specifications
Logitech is touting an advancement in comfort and usability design with its ergonomic, cross-platform Cordless Wave keyboard. There might be some marketing hyperbole to this claim, but after a week of typing with the Wave, I’m not sure that I could live without it. (This Cordless Desktop Wave also includes the ambidextrous LX8 scroller laser mouse.)
Like other ergonomic keyboards, the Wave includes an elevated palm rest, though not as extreme as the platforms of old. It’s also covered in a lightly padded vinyl upholstery that feels soft yet firm under the wrist, as well as a Goldilocks amount of tackiness (i.e., not too slippery, not sticky, just right). The keys are also positioned in a gentle U-shaped arc that nearly escapes the eye, but is apparent once you set your wrists down and start typing.
Contoured, wave-shaped key design conforms naturally to your fingers. |
But the biggest design innovation that the Wave introduces comes from its name–the keys undulate across the board in a wave-shaped contour that mimics the changing lengths in your own digits. The keys are at their highest on the outside at the A and Enter keys (which, if you’re a touch typist, is where your little fingers are positioned), and the keys trough to their lowest point at D and K (where the longer middle finger resides) before rising slightly at the G and H keys. The keys have a maximum distance variation of 4mm, and the spacebar mimics the wave contour of the keyboard design.
As someone who writes for a living, my computer keyboard is one of the most important tools I have and one that I’m connected to for hours every day. I’ve gone through many models over the years to get just the right one, and I currently use the Matias Tactile Pro on my Mac as it provides some of the best keystroke feedback I’ve found (which is the polar opposite to the frustratingly squishy keyboards that came with my HP and Apple PCs).
While the rolling contour of the keyboard layout was barely perceptible, my fingertips took to the Wave easily. It felt like each key was indeed designed specifically to fit the finger that was mapped to tap it. And the keys combine a springy action with a final tap that’s not too loud, but both tactile and audible enough for instant feedback. As my week of testing progressed and my fingers grew more accustomed to the Wave, I actually felt as if my typing was both more accurate than on the Tactile Pro as well as a touch faster.
From an ergonomic standpoint, the Wave’s gradual curve isn’t immediately noticeable, but after a few days I found my elbows weren’t hunched next to my body as they were with the straight keyboard, freeing both wrists and shoulders from strain. That said, if you require more substantial ergonomics for your typing (such as the curve and height of the Microsoft Natural), you might be disappointed by the relative flatness of the Wave.
The Delete key has been elongated and the Insert/Help key moved above.. |
The Wave has a fairly standard extended keyboard design, with one change that I cheered but could easily be jeered by others. The Home/Delete/End/Page Up & Down keys is switched to a vertical orientation, and the bane of my typing life–the Insert key (also the Help key on the Mac), which I often hit mistakenly when hunting for the Delete key–has been moved up (moving into the Scroll Lock key position) and replaced by an elongated Delete key. Another handy feature is onscreen notification of when you hit the Caps Lock key (another one of my touch typing transgressions).
The keyboard is supplemented by a plethora of system-specific feature buttons–including Flip 3D, Gadgets and Media Center in Windows Vista (aka, Expose, Dashboard, and Front Row on the Mac)–as well as quick access to your selected audio program and full playback controls (including volume). All functions can be customized using the included Logitech Setpoint utility (or Control Center within the Mac’s System Preferences).
The Desktop Wave package is completed with the inclusion of the symmetrically designed LX8 laser scroller mouse, which can be used by either righties or lefties. The comfortably curved sides are supplemented by a rubbery finish that’s easily gripped. It’s more compact than the Microsoft Intellimouse we’ve been using, though just a bit heftier. That said, it glided easily over our desk’s surface and was very precise once we configured the tracking speed. Both mouse and keyboard connect to your PC via a wireless USB dongle that looks like a flash thumbdrive. Its small size makes it easy to pack along with the mouse for work while on the go, and it also comes with a dock for desktop use. Both mouse and keyboard are powered by two AA batteries.
When I began reviewing the Cordless Wave, I wasn’t looking for a new keyboard. But thanks to its excellent typing action, unique comfort features–from the contoured design of the keys to the padded wrist rest–and the plethora of customizable functions right at the tip of the finger, it’s time to part ways with my old keyboard. –Agen G.N. Schmitz
Pros:
- Innovative contoured design of the keys conform naturally to your finger lengths, excellent typing action
- Padded vinyl wrist rest adds soft comfort and allows easy movement
- Loads of function and multimedia buttons, all customizable using included software
- Cross-platform, including compatibility with special features in Windows Vista
- Laser mouse is symmetrically designed, for use by both righties and lefties
Cons:
- Shifting of some keys might annoy some, but delight others
- Might seem flat to those who need more substantial ergnomics
